Thursday Monthly Easy walks 1.15pm – 2.30pm

Supporting the well-being of Peak District Farming Communities

A gentle monthly afternoon walk, on Thursdays. Meet at 1.15pm for a 1.30 – 2.30pm walk, with the opportunity for refreshments and a good chat afterwards! Our walks are short and ‘Easy’ on good surfaces but may involve some stiles or ascents/descents over a short distance. In the event of extreme weather conditions, please contact Pauline beforehand on 07538 785666 to confirm the walk is going ahead. 

19 April 2018 – Carsington Water, approx. 2 miles
Meet in the car park at Carsington Water near the visitor centre – A pleasant walk with a chance to see a variety of birdlife around Carsington reservoir, coffee at the Carsington Café.

31 May 2018 – Peters Dale, approx. 2 miles
Meet at Youlgrave Café car park Wardlow Mires at the turn off on the A623 – A beautiful walk up Peters Dale followed by refreshments at start Café.

28 June 2018 – Hathersage, approx. 2 miles
Meet at Hathersage near the outdoor swimming pool, some limited on street parking or main car park – an interesting walk taking in some of the sights of Hathersage across the fields to the river Derwent – coffee in the pool café.

EMH care & support

Roll and Stroll Accessible Walks

emf have been providing care and support services to people with learning difficulties since 1990. We also provide supported housing for people aged 55 and over, and a range of other services to vulnerable people.

Roll and Stroll are fully accessible walks led by qualified walk leaders. The walks start and finish from the venue where the pace and length of walk are set by you. Disabled parking, good food, refreshments and accessible toilets (sometimes radar keys) are available – bring a packed lunch or get some lunch at the cafes.

If you need someone to support you please don’t come on your own as unfortunately we can’t offer any additional support. Please ring with any questions.

Wear appropriate shoes and check the weather forecast and bring waterproofs or a brolly if necessary.

Tuesday afternoon Dementia Friendly Walks

The Peak District National Park, and Derbyshire Carers have joined our partnership to increase the number of walks. These walks will enable those living with dementia and carers supporting loved ones to enjoy gentle exercise, good company and the great outdoors. We guarantee a warm welcome and a programme of walks designed specifically for you at your pace (30 – 60 mins) If you need someone to support you, please don’t come on your own as unfortunately we can’t offer any additional support.

As part of National Carers Week celebrations come and enjoy the day of walks and picnic at Cromford Wharf with different length walks in the morning and afternoon along the Cromford Canal with narrow boat rides with Friends of Cromford Canal on their boat “Birdswood”. 

Dales Heart Cardiac Support Group

Dales Heart is a group of people with heart disease plus their spouses, partners and carers, offering mutual support in a social setting.

We meet on the 4th Wednesday of the month at different venues.
