Nordic Walking

What is it?

Nordic Walking is a form of physical activity, natural walking is enhanced by the addition of the active use of a pair of specifically designed Nordic Walking poles. 

New Free Nordic Walking (60 - 90 mins sessions) in Whitworth Park, Darley Dale 

Tuesdays from 2.00pm and 6.00pm

Fridays from 10.30am and 2.00pm

Meet outside the Whitworth Centre Café, park in the free Whitworth Centre Car Park off the A6

‘Lifefit’ and the Whitworth Centre in partnership with Derbyshire Dales Walking for Health scheme are starting free Nordic Walking from 4 April in Whitworth Park with trained International Nordic Walking Federation Instructors Phil and Nicole.

Nordic Walking poles are freely available during the sessions and can be booked out at other times. Nordic Walking has proven benefits for many health conditions including Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia, Diabetes, Cancer, Cardiovascular Disease, Parkinsons, Pulmonary Disease, and Menopause etc. It can work at a very basic level for Assisted walking right up to higher levels of fitness walking.
