How to pay

Business Rates can be paid in a number of ways:

Online

If you have a debit card or a credit card* then you can pay your bill on-line.  All you need to do is visit the on-line payments page and follow the instructions.  This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

* Please note that a 2% surcharge will be applied to all credit card payments.  There is no charge for payments by debit card.

Direct Debit

This is the most convenient way to pay for both the customer and the Council and is the only payment method to give you a choice of payment dates of either the first, tenth or twenty-fifth of the month, in addition to annually and half-yearly.  If you have already signed a Direct Debit Instruction you need take no further action.  If you would like to pay by Direct Debit, please contact the Council (telephone 01629 761 222) and you can set up a Direct Debit Instruction quickly and easily over the phone.

Post Office and PayPoint

The Council will no longer take payments of Business Rates at the Town Hall or other area offices.  All ratepayers not on Direct Debit will be issued with a bill containing a barcode to enable payments to be made at any Post Office or PayPoint outlet in the UK.

The Post Office will accept payments made by cash, cheque or debit card (cheques should be made payable to Post Office Ltd).  PayPoint outlets will accept payments by cash.  All charges for using this service will be paid by the Council.

Telephone

Payments can be made using most debit and credit cards (excluding American Express) over the telephone.  Call 01629 761 295.  Please note that a 2% surcharge will be applied to all credit card payments. There is no charge for payments by debit card.

Sort Code: 30-90-25
Account number: 25919060

Payments may also be made to the council’s National Giro Account Number 4156129
