The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (opens in a new window) introduced wide ranging changes to the planning system, which seek to streamline the local planning process and promote a proactive, positive approach to managing development.
The Local Development Framework (LDF) is made up of a number of individual documents that will be produced over time and which will together guide development in the district. The documents of the Local Development Framework will over time replace the existing Local Plan.
The Local Development Framework is made up of the following types of documents:
Development Plan Documents (DPD)
Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD)
Supporting Documents (LDS, SCI and AMR)
Sustainability Appraisals
Further information is detailed in PPS12: Local Spatial Planning (opens in a new window).
All LDF documents must conform to the East Midlands Regional Spatial Strategy (opens in a new window).
The Secretary of State has issued a direction in accordance with Schedule 8 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 and approved a Schedule of Derbyshire Dales Local Plan Policies to be saved until LDF policies replace them (See Local Plan Saved Policies). Each of the documents in the Derbyshire Dales LDF will specify which policies and proposals in the Derbyshire Dales Local Plan have been replaced.
