Hognaston Conservation Area

The boundary includes land and buildings to the east and west of Main Street and includes Green Farm on Green Lane to the north-west of the village. Hognaston has a large landscape setting encircling the village.

The original designation of Hognaston Conservation Area was in October 1979. There have been no further amendments to the boundary.  It currently comprises 48.8 hectares.

Historic Assets

Within Hognaston Conservation Area there are 110 buildings, of which 9 are listed entries. The Church of St. Bartholomew’s on Church Lane is listed Grade II*. The remainder of listed entries are all Grade II. The listed buildings in Hognaston range from cottages to telephone boxes and farms. All are recognised for the contribution they make both individually and to the street-scene.

Hognaston Conservation Area contains no Scheduled Ancient Monuments.

Buildings at Risk

None of the listed buildings within the Hognaston Conservation Area are recognised by the District Council as being ‘at risk’.

Article 4 Direction

There are no additional planning controls, such as an Article 4 Direction, on properties in Hognaston Conservation Area.
