Community conversations

Throughout June and July 2011, the District Council held a series of Community Conversations to provide local people with an opportunity to express views on how they think their area should change in the future. These events are part of a commitment to working with Parish Councils and local communities, to ensure that they are fully engaged in helping to shape the future growth of the area, whilst preserving the character and appearance of the District's towns, villages and countryside.

For each event a conversation booklet was prepared in advance which outlined what is already known about the area as well as information about the current proposals for the area as contained within the Derbyshire Dales and High Peak Joint Core Strategy Draft Plan. These booklets are available in the related documents section below.

Following the Community Conversations the event facilitators have prepared a report for each of the events. The reports identify the key issues and aspirations raised at each Community Conversation and outline local feelings in terms of areas to protect and potential areas for development in the future.
