Ashbourne Swimming Pool will be closed for at least a week for a deep clean following the breakage of a glass object at pool side on Thursday 25 June.
A customer accidently dropped the object and shards of class scattered into the pool. To ensure that all the glass is removed the pool is being drained and will be cleaned thoroughly before being refilled, reheated and reopened to the public. Derbyshire Dales District Council apologise for any inconvenience this unplanned closure may cause.
Ashbourne swimming pool holds approx 565,000 litres of water and will take several days to drain down.
The rest of the facility is open as normal including the fitness suite and sports halls.
