The District Council has launched a new mini guide highlighting the attractions of Ashbourne.

The mini guide, which is available free from the District Council's Tourist Information Centre in Ashbourne, is being distributed at visitor hotspots throughout the Dales to help encourage people into the town to support the local economy.

The leaflet (pictured right) is also available to view and download in the Related Documents section at the foot of this page.  It works in conjunction with interpretive panels sited throughout the town and guided walks to give a comprehensive picture of Ashbourne.

A similar mini guide promoting Matlock's five parks was published by the District Council in 2010.

The Matlock guide, which can also be viewed in the Related Documents section at the foot of this page, includes a route map, descriptions of each park and the surrounding ancient woodlands, grassland and flowers, rocks and rakes.

It is widely available throughout Matlock and Matlock Bath at places including the District Council’s Tourist Information Centre in Matlock’s Crown Square and the Tourist Information Point at the Peak District Mining Museum in Matlock Bath.

The District Councill owns and manage five parks along a stunningly beautiful section of the River Derwent between Matlock and Matlock Bath and the free leaflet has been produced to help local people and visitors negotiate and interpret a carefully restored continuous scenic riverside and cliff path walk linking the two places.

The formal parks and riverside walks at both ends of the 2.4 mile linked route are well paved, lit and friendly to pushchairs and wheelchairs.

The five parks are Hall Leys in Matlock – with a Green Flag status confirming it as one of the best in the UK – Pic Tor, High Tor, Lovers’ Walks and Derwent Gardens.
