The Derbyshire Dales is a beautiful, clean, safe and healthy place to live, work and visit. Local people and visitors have the opportunity to take part in sport, recreation and cultural activities as often as they wish, to a level that suits their personal goals and aspirations.
Local people can take advantage of the District Council's four leisure centres and fabulous parks - including one of the UK's best, the Green Flag status Hall Leys Park in Matlock. A new £12-million leisure centre between Matlock and Darley Dale is scheduled to open in summer 2011.
Around five million people visit the Derbyshire Dales every year, contributing £243-million and around 5,440 jobs to the local economy. In the Related documents section below you can view the latest Derbyshire Dales Mini guide in PDF format. For more information about what's on in the Derbyshire Dales, visit one of our Tourist Information Centres or our partner website, Visit Peak District.
We have published strategies for both Leisure and Culture in order to further develop our services for the better enjoyment of local people and visitors to our districts.
