Leisure and culture

The Derbyshire Dales is a place where all residents and visitors have the opportunity to take part in sport, recreation and cultural activities, as often as they wish, to a level that suits their personal goals and aspirations.

There are opportunities for people to take part in a wide range of activities, both formal and informal, from playing badminton to visiting museums.

We have published strategies for both Leisure and Culture in order to develop these services for the better enjoyment of local residents and visitors to our district.

Swim 4 Life

From 1 April 2009, all people aged 60 and over, or 16 and under, will be able to swim at no cost at any of the District Council's swimming pools during a public session. The Swim 4 Life scheme will last for two years
