Over recent years, the enthusiasm and dedication of many professional and voluntary arts organisations, combined with the commitment of the council and its partners, has helped to raise the profile of the arts across the Derbyshire Dales.
Today, the arts, cultural activities and the creative industries are making a highly valuable contribution to the quality of life and prosperity of the area. The rich diversity and quality of the many creative initiatives are helping to promote the Dales as a place to live, work and visit.
It is hoped that these arts pages will offer a valuable resource for people in search of activities, events, information and services from the varied and thriving arts community of the Dales, our partners and from regional and national agencies that support the arts.
Our Arts Officer is Nicola Wildgoose. Nicola is based at Matlock Town Hall and is available to offer information about the Arts Strategy (now incorporated with the crosscutting strategy ‘Promoting the Dales’), to provide advice on funding, contacts and networking and to offer support to people interested in developing the arts. The Arts Development Service welcomes articles for the in-house newsletter ArtsMATTERS.
Derbyshire Dales hosts a wide range of arts opportunities for local people and visitors. We aim to enable everyone who lives in, works in, or visits the Derbyshire Dales to take part in and enjoy the arts in all its many forms.
Please use the links on the left to find out more about cultural activities across the Derbyshire Dales and about local and national organisations that support their development.
