Housing associations and cooperatives

We hold nomination rights to the majority of Housing Association accommodation and in some cases 100 per cent nomination rights. The Associations advertise their properties through Home-Options. To find out more visit the Home-Options website (opens in a new window).

There is a total Housing Association stock of 3,300 properties, and around 250 vaciencies arise each year. More than half of these vaciencies arise in older people's accommodation. Therefore there are only 75 properties across the whole of the district for general needs applicants. There are always more people requiring accommodation than there are properties available. Building more affordable housing

We also work with Housing Associations as partners to deliver new affordable housing for rent and shared ownership. We are pleased to have obtained £7.2million housing corpoartion funding for these developments for the period 1 April 2004 to 31 March 2006. For 2006-2008 we obtained £9.2million to build a further 220 properties for local people.
