Welcome to our Housing webpages. Here you can find information about the various housing related services that we offer.
In March 2002 we transferred our housing stock to Dales Housing Ltd (opens in a new window), a newly created housing association. As a result we no longer own or manage the properties. Instead we work with Dales Housing, other registered social landlords (RSLs) and the private sector to provide a stock of houses that meet the needs of our community.
Among the services that we continue to offer homelessness, housing advice, housing standards enforcement, and a full package of home improvement grants (including disabled facilities grants) and loans. From 1 March 2007, we and local housing associations advertise all available housing association properties through Home-Options (opens in a new window). Our Rural Housing enabler also undertakes Housing Needs Surveys to determine the need for affordable homes in a parish. The Housing Needs Surveys for Bakewell, Taddington and Hathersage and Outseats are detailed below
Working with High Peak Borough Council, we have developed a single Housing Strategy that covers both local authority areas. We did this because the housing issues we face are often the same and by working together we are in a better position to attract government funding into the area. It also allows us to share good practice between each other and keep costs down by employing one team of officers that work for both councils rather than having two separate teams.
Find out more about our Housing Strategy 2006 - 2009 (see below). In June 2006 the Housing Strategy was assessed as 'Fit for Purpose' by the Government Office for the East Midlands. This is the national standard for accrediting housing strategies.
