Bin - Grey (general household)

Residents are provided with a 140 litre grey bin for household waste which is collected every two weeks. The grey bin should be placed at the edge of your property by 7.00am on your collection day.

Residents whose properties cannot accommodate a wheeled bin are issued with black sacks.

The recycling service will help you dispose of less items in the grey bin.

Larger grey bin

Residents are entitled to a larger household waste bin (240 litre) if they have five or more permanent residents at the property or a member of the household uses disposable nappies or incontinence waste products.

Broken/missing bin

If your grey wheeled bin is broken or has gone missing please visit our 'order a new/replacement container' webpage for further information on how to request a replacement bin.

Help putting your bin out

If you are unable to put your wheeled bin(s) at the edge of your property and there is no-one else in your household over 16 years old who can do so you can apply for an assisted collection, and the refuse collectors will collect and return your bin from the storage point. 

New properties 

There is a charge of £33.85 for a 140 litre / £39.50 for a 240 litre grey wheeled bin (general household waste) for new properties. 

A 240 litre green lidded wheeled bin for garden waste, a blue lidded bin for recycling, a kitchen and kerbside caddy for food waste are provided free of charge when payment is made for the grey bin.
