The Derbyshire Handy Van Network is an essential service to help people to continue to live independently in their own homes. It is open to anyone over 60, or anyone referred by Derbyshire Dales District Council, Derbyshire County Council Adult Care, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service or Derbyshire Constabulary.
The following help can be provided:
- Home Fire Safety Checks
- Smoke alarms provided and installed
- Home Security Checks
- Security equipment provided and installed
- Energy Efficiency advice
Practical tasks - for example:
- changing light-bulbs
- securing carpets
- removing and hanging curtains
- securing stair rails
- securing tap washers to reduce dripping taps
Eligible households can access this service up to twice a year. (please note, you may have to pay for some materials).
To access this service in the Derbyshire Dales area please phone 01298 23970. The service is available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Further information is available from Buxton and District Volunteer Centre, who currently operate the service.
