Handy Van Network

The Derbyshire Handy Van Network offers older and vulnerable people help with practical household tasks.  It is open to anyone over 60 or vulnerable people, or anyone referred by Derbyshire Dales District Council, Derbyshire County Council Adult Care, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service or Derbyshire Constabulary or health professionals.

The following help can be provided:

  • Home Fire Safety Checks
  • Smoke alarms provided and installed
  • Installing Telecare equipment (Contact Call Derbyshire for more information 01629 533190)
  • Fitting key safes (Can be purchased from the Handyvan Service and fitted free of charge)
  • Energy Efficiency advice

Practical tasks - for example:

  • changing light-bulbs
  • securing carpets
  • removing and hanging curtains
  • path and door access clearance
  • other tasks as appropriate

Eligible households can access this service up to twice a year. (please note, some materials may need to be purchased by the occupier).

The service is available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

This service does not offer an emergency service for plumbing or electrical problems.

The service will also with your permission , make referrals to partners organisations for additional services and support that may help you live independently.
