Elections

The Electoral Registration Officer is responsible for compiling and maintaining the Register of Electors and for the administration of elections. Anyone over the age of 18 in the UK has the right to vote and have a say in how the country is run. To vote you must be on the council register of electors.

The Register of Electors

Your name must be on the Register of Electors to vote at elections – Local, Parliamentary and European.  Not being included on the Register of Electors can also affect your credit rating. 

You can check to see whether your name is on the Register of Electors or, if you have recently moved house there is still time to add your name there before the Parliamentary Elections.  Your local District Council provides this service – please see contact details below.

The next UK Parliamentary Elections must be held by Thursday 3 June – keep watching the press for details.  If you are unable to vote in person for any reason and you require a postal or proxy vote (a proxy is someone who votes on your behalf) please contact the Elections Help Desk via one of the following methods – they will be able to help you with any queries regarding electoral registration, elections and voting:
