The Electoral Registration Officer is responsible for compiling and maintaining the Register of Electors and for the administration of elections. Anyone over the age of 18 in the UK has the right to vote and have a say in how the country is run. To vote you must be on the council register of electors.
Your name must be on the Register of Electors to vote at elections – Local, Parliamentary and European. Not being included on the Register of Electors can also affect your credit rating.
You can check to see whether your name is on the Register of Electors or, if you have recently moved house there is still time to add your name there before the Parliamentary Elections. Your local District Council provides this service – please see contact details below.
