About the council
The District Council provides public services and community leadership in the Derbyshire Dales area, together with Derbyshire County Council and Town and Parish Councils.
Derbyshire Dales District Council came top in the Government’s latest assessment of councils, carried out by the Audit Commission.
Published in December 2009, this assessment puts Derbyshire Dales District Council the joint highest scoring council in Derbyshire.
Independent inspectors say Derbyshire Dales District Council is delivering good value for money, doing a good job at working on local people’s priorities, and helping during the recession.
It states: “Councillors and staff work well together in the aim of improving Derbyshire Dales as a place to live.”
To remain the joint best performing council in Derbyshire with the lowest amount of Government funding is a significant achievement.
