Councillor David Barker

I have always lived in Matlock and have been a member of Derbyshire Dales District Council since 1987. I was also a founder member of Matlock Town Council, on which I still serve. I have served three terms in total as Town Mayor, and I am currently the Civic Chairman of the District of Derbyshire Dales. 

I am involved in many organisations in the town. I have the honour to be President of the Matlock and Darley Dale Branch of the Royal British Legion. I am a member of the 140 Air Training Corps Civilian committee and a Governor of All Saints Infants School and Matlock Civic Association. I have served on these for over twenty years.

I am also a Trustee of Cavendish Fields Sports Association and was heavily involved in the setting up of this charity to provide top class sports facilities for Matlock.

My other interests are foreign travel, gardening, photography, the environment and the future of Matlock.
