Royal visit to Hall Leys Park, Matlock


His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester visited Hall Leys Park, Matlock on Tuesday 3 June 2008.

His Royal Highness’ visit marked the completion of the £3.5 million Matlock Parks Project undertaken by Derbyshire Dales District Council, with substantial financial support from the Heritage Lottery Fund and local organisations. The project restored the 5 historic parks that link Matlock and Matlock Bath.

This visit by His Royal Highness included a tour of Hall Leys Park where he met civic leaders and major funders. During the tour His Royal Highness unveiled a plaque to commemorate the completion of the 5 year Matlock Parks Project.

The Matlock Parks Project was funded by Derbyshire Dales District Council with the assistance of a £2.67 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and other donations from local organisations. The Project has enabled the restoration and improvement of 5 linked historic parks; Hall Leys Park, High Tor Grounds, Lovers’ Walks, Derwent Gardens and Pic Tor.
