Retiring after 41 years service to Local Government


Mr John Morris, Director of Community Services at Derbyshire Dales District Council, has retired after 23 years of service to the District Council. Mr Morris has worked in local government for a total of 41 years, beginning his career at Repton Rural District Council as a trainee Civil Engineer. Mr Morris then moved to North East Derbyshire District Council where he worked for 19 years rising to Principal Engineer.

In 1985, Mr Morris joined Derbyshire Dales District Council as Services Officer.

On his 23 years at Derbyshire Dales District Council, Mr Morris said: “I have enjoyed my time at Derbyshire Dales and hope that in a small way I have helped others to ensure continuous improvement in the range of services provided by the department.”

Peter Foley has been appointed as the new Director of Community Services at Derbyshire Dales District Council.
