New recycling opportunities in the Dales


Residents in Derbyshire Dales can now recycle paper based food and drink cartons, eg Tetra Pak, at 10 sites across the district.

Derbyshire Dales District Council is working in partnership with Recresco and Tetra Pak to trial a collection scheme for paper based cartons. New recycling banks for paper based cartons

The ten sites with the new collection banks for paper based cartons are: 

    Shaw Croft car park, Ashbourne 
    Sainsburys, Ashbourne 
    Granby Road car park, Bakewell 
    Artists Corner car park, Matlock Bath 
    Canterbury Road car park, Wirksworth 
    Nether End car park, Baslow 
    Odd Fellows Road, car park, Hathersage 
    Hawkhill Road car park, Eyam 
    Community Centre car park, Tideswell 
    Spar Shop and Filling Station, Darley Dale.

Councillor Andrew Lewer, Chairman of the Derbyshire Dales District Council’s Community and Environment Committee said: “Residents in Derbyshire Dales are very committed to recycling and this gave us the opportunity to expand the range of materials that can be recycled at bring sites in the district. The District Council has agreed to trial this new scheme for 2 years. We will monitor the usage before we making a decision on further expansion of the service.”  New recycling banks for paper based cartons

There are over 100 recycling bring sites in the Derbyshire Dales offering facilities to recycle a range of materials including, cans, glass, paper and plastic. Shoes, books and clothes can be recycled at the larger bring sites, please check the District Council website derbyshiredales.gov.uk for full details for each of the sites. Paper and glass can also be recycled using the District council blue box collection service.
