Councillor Mrs Cate Hunt was appointed Chairman of the District of Derbyshire Dales for 2008/09 at Derbyshire Dales District Council’s AGM on Thursday 22 May 2008.

In her acceptance speech Cllr Mrs Hunt thanked the retiring Chairman, Cllr Ken Bull for his dedication to the role over the past year. Cllr Mrs Hunt added: “I am honoured to become the Chairman of the District of Derbyshire Dales. I am looking forward to a busy year meeting lots of new people, attending many events and visiting all areas of Derbyshire Dales, and the surrounding area some which will be new to me”

Cllr Mrs Hunt named Helen’s Trust and Canine Partners as the Chairman’s charities for the year. Cllr Mrs Hunt is ward member for Calver.

Councillor David Barker, ward member for Matlock and All Saints, was appointed Vice-Chairman of the District.

Chairman of the District of Derbyshire Dales is a civic role. The Chairman represents the District at functions throughout the year.

Councillor Geoff Stevens was elected Chairman of Derbyshire Dales District Council 2008/09 with Councillor Alan Hodkinson as Vice-Chairman.
