Derbyshire Dales District Council is advising users that Matlock Lido’s main swimming pool has had to be closed for urgent roof repairs. A small piece of cladding to the ceiling became dislodged on Friday night and further works are necessary. In order for the repairs to take place the main pool will need to be drained, and a scaffolding tower erected in the main pool area. If all goes according to schedule, it is estimated that this work will take two weeks. Councillor Andrew Lewer, Chairman of the Community and Environment Committee said: “We apologise for the inconvenience that this closure will cause, particularly at this time of year at the start of the school holidays. We would like to stress the closure is for reasons beyond our control and the safety of our customers is our first priority. This essential repair work will ensure that the Lido remains safe for the public to use and enjoy." The learner pool and Clockworks gym will remain open during this work. Most of the Summer Activity Programme remains unaffected. Some sessions which were due to take place in the main pool have been moved to the learner pool although spaces will be limited.
