Following the opening of the new Sainsbury's store and the relief road, Birse Civils Limited have confirmed that the final completion of the Bus Station area as is now scheduled for the end of November and that the approaches to the Railway Station will be completed by the end of December.
"The toilets and waiting room are now open at the new Bus Station" said Dave Brooks, Head of Planning and Development Services at Derbyshire Dales District Council. "There have been some delays and not all the new pedestrian routes are yet available, meaning that temporary arrangements have had to be put in place. Together with Birse Civils we offer our apologies to passengers for any inconvenience caused to them in their use of the new facility. "
The District Council is committed to the increased use of public transport and is confident that once all the works are finalised, Matlock will have the benefit a modern public transport hub for buses and trains to serve for the needs of a growing and prospering town.
