As part of the ongoing development of Hall Leys Park, Derbyshire Dales District Council would like to establish a ‘Friends of Hall Leys Park’ group who will work in partnership with the District Council to develop an action plan for Hall Leys Park for the next few years, following the recent restoration program.
A ‘Friends’ group is a group of volunteers who have an interest in the park, and is usually formed from members of the public, community organisations, local businesses, and ideally represents all parts of the community. A ‘ Friends’ group can often help encourage increased use of the park, by holding a variety of community events, and can help discourage misuse.
The District Council will be holding a ‘Drop-In’ session at the Town Hall in Matlock on Wednesday 16 January 2008, between 4-7pm. If you are interested in becoming involved in the future of your park, please come along. There will also be the opportunity to write down your comments on what you would like to see happening in the park. If you are unable to attend, but would like to be kept informed, please contact either Alison Baker on 01629 761140 or Keith Postlethwaite on 01629 761377.
Hall Leys Park has recently undergone significant restoration, as the first phase of the Matlock Parks Project. This is a £3.5 million Heritage Restoration project currently being undertaken by Derbyshire Dales District Council, with substantial financial support from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
