Monyash Primary School emerged victorious from the first ever Bakewell Primary Schools Water Polo competition organised by Derbyshire Dales District Council.

Nine teams from eight schools in the Bakewell area took part in the event held at Bakewell swimming pool.

Mrs Virginia-Anne, Head Teacher of Monyash Primary School said: “It was brilliant to have the opportunity to take part and we are delighted to have won. We would like to say a big thank you to the organisers, especially Paul East, Bakewell Swimming Pool, who has been involved in coaching all the schools from the Bakewell Area. We hope this becomes an annual event and look forward to taking part again.”

The final against Great Longstone Primary School went to extra time with Joe Little scoring the golden goal for Monyash.
