Flytipping

Don't put up with it, Report it!

Keep the Derbyshire Dales clean, safe and green.  Dumping rubbish is illegal and dangerous, don't put up with it: report it.  Once reported the rubbish can be removed and, with your help, the crime can be investigated.

Derbyshire Dales District Council patrol the district regularly and investigate all reports of fly-tipping.

Once waste has been illegally dumped, it often attracts further tipping, thus adding to an environmental problem, which is not only unsightly but can also cause harm.  Please help us by reporting fly tipping so it can be removed and investigated.

The District Council or the Environment Agency may wish to prosecutre the person fly tipping and will possibly rely on your evidence in court.  Anyone found dumping rubbish or fly tipping can face a maximum fine of £50,000

Even if you do not wish to be a witness, or give your name, it is still improtant to report these crimes as your information will be useful in the event of a prosecution.  Please do not touch any fly-tipped waste as it may be hazardous.  Don't approach the waste and do not open black sacks or containers.

To report a fly-tip please contact the Environment Hotline on 01629 761215, email environmenthotline@derbyshiredales.gov.uk or write to Environmental Services Department, Street Cleansing, Derbyshire Dales District Council, Town Hall, Matlock, Derbyshire, DE4 3NN.
