Derbyshire Dales District Council use wheeled bins for the collection of Household refuse and garden waste. In 2007/08 the District Council recycled and composted 40.85% of the total waste produced.
Your Domestic Bins and Collection Arrangements
Household refuse is collected weekly in a 140 litre ‘grey’ wheeled bin with garden waste taken on a fortnightly basis in a 240 litre ‘green’ wheeled bin. Wheeled bins should be presented at the edge of property for collection by 7am on the collection day. To find out your collection days please contact the Environment Hotline on 01629 761215 or email environmenthotline@derbyshiredales.gov.uk detailing your full property address. These collections are in addition to the Blue Box recycling collection for glass and paper. For more details follow this link: Blue Box Recycling Scheme. Please do not compact and squash your waste into the bin as this prevents it from emptying properly on collection day.

What can and can’t go in the garden waste bin? (Green Bin)
TOP TIP: Line your Green Bin with newspaper or a flattened cardboard box to ensure the waste can be easily tipped out on collection day. If your waste is stuck inside your Green Bin and it has not emptied please loosen it before your next collection day.
