GREENER BABIES
During the last year Derbyshire Dales has taken part in Alupro’s “Trees for the UK and Africa” campaign, where for every tonne of aluminium recycled by our residents a tree is planted in the UK or in Burkina Faso, West Africa.
And as it’s national tree week Derbyshire Dales wants to celebrate these two great campaigns by planting a native tree in local parks around the district in honour of twelve lucky babies born during 22 Nov – 3 Dec 2006.
Trees are amazing things, did you know for instance that a tree provides enough oxygen for two people over their lifetime and absorbs one tonne of carbon dioxide, one of the main greenhouse gases contributing to climate change. They provide shade and a home to countless wildlife as well as making our parks and land a much greener and pleasanter land to live in.
Send nomination details - name of baby, date of birth, parents contact details to claire.simmons@derbyshiredales.gov.uk or ring on 01629 761304.
*CLOSING DATE FOR NOMINATIONS IS 15 DECEMBER 2006*
